Practical Keynote Presentations
Joan is an engaging presenter. She shares from the heart about lessons learned as a health care professional, a mother, and a parent of a child with a disability from the unique perspective of being the daughter of one of Oregon's first Early Intervention Teachers. Joan has provided keynote presentations to a wide range of audiences including IEP Parent Day in San Diego, CA to the World Down Syndrome Congress in Dublin Ireland.
“Joan was hired by the Involved Exceptional Parents' Day Committee to speak about her journey as a mom of a child with special needs. She was funny and easy to listen to; and she gave a great breakout worshop on helping to organize your student's day to help them stay on track for success. I highly recommend her for any speaking engagements for parents, especially those with children with special needs!”

Forgiveness and Advocacy: An Effective Complement
Regardless of who you are at the table of a student's IEP, things are said. Harm is done. Despite our feelings, a student-centered solution is essential. How does a parent advocate when trust is broken? One way to do this is to forgive the actions of those who have caused hurt. To do this, we need to fully understand the true definition of forgiveness and why it holds so much power.
